Introduction

A One-Ass Kitchen

I don’t know if I can pinpoint the exact moment my passion for cooking was born, but I do know some of my fondest memories are in the kitchen with my mom and grandmothers. My two grandmothers, Sadie and Tessie, each had their own special recipes that were treasured by the respective sides of the families. From a very young age, I was encouraged to help out in the kitchen. One day I was assisting Grandma Sadie with baking her delicious “S” cookies. We would have to squeeze by one another due to the ample sizes of our butts and the less-than ample size of her kitchen. She would shout in her sweet little high-pitched voice, “I have a One A. K.!” I would look at her puzzled and she would explain: “It’s a one-ass kitchen! We can only fit one of our asses in here at a a time!”

Her kitchen may have been small, but there was magic made in it. Today, living in Queens, NY, I also have a One Ass Kitchen. It is where I put the same love and energy into my cooking that my grandmothers and mother put into theirs. I look forward to sharing my passion for all things culinary as I try new recipes and perfect old ones. So squeeze on in and join me in my One A.K!
